Police Investigate Possible Gang Related Murder

On Friday, April 24, 2015, at approximately 11:42 p.m., Long Beach Police responded to the 100 block of Platt Street in regards to reports of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they discovered a male adult down on the street who sustained injury from a gunshot wound. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Donald Parks of Long Beach.

The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was outside in front of a residence with a group of individuals when the suspect approached on foot and fired several rounds towards the group. There were no other reports of injury related to this incident. The suspect is not in custody at this time. The shooting is being investigated as possibly gang related.
