Police Investigate Shooting Death of Los Angeles Man

On Saturday, April 5, 2014, around 9:07 p.m., Long Beach Police were dispatched to a report of shots heard in the 2300 block of Eucalyptus Avenue, which resulted in the death of a male adult.

Arriving officers discovered two male adult victims with apparent gunshot wounds to the lower body. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics transported both victims to a local hospital. One victim appeared to be in critical condition and the other in stable condition with a non-life threatening injury.

On Tuesday, April 8, 2014, Long Beach Police were notified one of the victims succumbed to his injuries. He has been identified as 51-year-old Herbert Shephard of Los Angeles.

The surviving victim’s identity will not be released.

No suspect information is available and a motive for the shooting is unknown.
