When officers arrived, they discovered 51-year-old Anthony Ramirez laying in the street. He appeared to be the victim of a stabbing and was transported by Long Beach Fire Department paramedics to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

A motive for the stabbing is unknown; however, the preliminary investigation indicated that he may have been involved in a physical fight with a group of subjects prior to the stabbing.

No suspect information is available, and the incident is being investigated as possibly gang-related.
