Police Request Information on Saturday Evening Traffic Fatality

On Saturday October 30, 2010, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers from the Long Beach Police Department responded to an injury traffic collision in the area of Long Beach Boulevard and Artesia Boulvevard that resulted in the death of a female pedestrian.
The preliminary investigation revealed that an adult female entered the roadway outside of a crosswalk and was crossing Long Beach Boulevard just south of Artesia Boulevard, when she was struck by a 2004 Kia van travelling southbound on Long Beach Boulevard.
The driver of the Kia van, a 42-year-old male resident of Compton, remained at the scene and was interviewed and released.
Long Beach Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the female to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased. Pending notification to her family, she is only being identified as a 41-year-old female at this time.
