Police Seek Leads in Friday Night Homicide

crime-scene-tape murder investigationOn Friday, September 10, 2010, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Long Beach Police officers responded to a shooting call in the 1000 block of Lewis Avenue, which resulted in the death of a male adult.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, identified as 23-year-old Brian Humphries of Long Beach, was standing in front of a residence in the 1000 block of Lewis Avenue visiting with friends. Two male suspects approached the victim and without any words exchanged or provocation the suspect fired at the victim striking him in the torso. The suspects then fled the area on foot northbound Lewis Avenue. The victim was transported to a local hospital by Long Beach Fire Department paramedics, and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
