2015-08-12 · By Editor
Power 4 Youth, an academic mentoring program for middle school students will be holding a no-obligation information meeting for prospective volunteers on Thursday, August 27 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at 607 E. 3rd Street (at Atlantic), one of the six community sites Power 4 Youth operates.
The program is looking for adults who can meet weekly one-on-one with a youth at Power 4 Youth sites to assist with academic help through building a caring mentor relationship with a young person. Free training and support is provided for all mentors.
“I am really enthused as we begin another school year. Our goal is to help youth to achieve the best they are capable of through the help of a one-on-one mentor,” explains Val Parker, Executive Director. “Youth are looking for this support. We hope this school year to match more youth with mentors, so the need for volunteers is greater than ever before.”
