powerfest-long-beachFor the second year in a row, Powerfest Thursday will flood Pine Avenue with a flurry of activity on July 9th from 5:30-10PM to kick off the annual Powerfest Boat Races from  Long Beach to Catalina.

Hosted by the Downtown Long Beach Associates, the event will welcome thousands of visitors to Pine Avenue for an evening of music and entertainment.  Several high-speed race boats and other watercraft will be on display with racers on hand to talk to fans and sign autographs.  Two monster trucks will also be on exhibit, giving race fans an up-close-and-personal look at these larger-than-life performance machines.

At 6:00 p.m., the first round of the Wakeboard Rail Jam Stunt Show will create a spectacle as two giant pools are constructed in the middle of Pine Avenue with riders performing incredible mid-air stunts as they are catapulted from one pool to the other.  Then, at 7PM, the Miss Powerfest Bikini Contest will take over the main stage with a dozen beautiful ladies competing for the title of Miss Powerfest 2009.

At 7:30 p.m., music fans will have a chance to rock out with the world famous band, LBC, performing their tribute to Sublime.  A second Wakeboard Rail Jam show will end the night on a high as the stunt team goes all out to wow the crowd.   Red Bull DJ, Judd Nester, will rock the event with a mix of high-energy music throughout the night.

Powerfest on Pine is a free event and will take place on Pine Avenue between Broadway and 4th Street on Thursday, July 9.
