Putt-Putt on Pine is Looking for Wacky Golfers
2012-05-03 · By Editor
The 17th Annual Putt-Putt on Pine is ready to hits the streets of Downtown Long Beach and East Village on Thursday, May 31. A signature Leadership Long Beach event, this will be the 17th time that 200-plus putter make their way up and down Pine Avenue for 9 holes of food, fun and wacky golf.
Now is the time to round-up your friends, family and co-workers to get your team together to play a little miniature golf, get food and drink from restaurants and businesses, and have a great evening of fun! This year, you can even do it for less with early bird registration for $40 before May 21.
Putt-Putt on Pine is a miniature golf tournament that has restaurants and businesses in downtown Long Beach and the East Village host a golf hole that provides appetizers and beverages (alcoholic, in some cases). For the registration fee, the golfers can visit the establishments, play the golf hole-which in many cases is themed to the business/restaurant, sample the appetizers and drinks (there may be a small charge for the alcoholic ones), and compete for prizes/gifts. Teams can be formed around wacky themes with the spirit of the event built more on visiting, exploring and supporting businesses and restaurants. Overall, the golf portion of the event is not competitive, but the fun is.
Getting the most fun out of Putt-Putt on Pine is also about showing off a wacky theme. Team names and themes have ranged from PaPa Joe’s Heroes to Kiss My Putt! to BLOCKheads to Putt Pirates to Par-lez vous CSU! Prizes will be awarded for the best/wackiest theme, so don’t be afraid to be creative.

The event is a ‘fun’-raiser for Leadership Long Beach, a nonprofit organization committed to improving the city through its principled leadership programs and hundreds of alumni engaged in the community.
