Rebuilding Together Long Beach, a local non-profit organization will be partnering with over 30 volunteers from the firm Ultimate Software on December 3 to make much needed repairs to Janice Kelley’s home in the Artcraft Manor area.

Rebuilding Together is a national organization and Rebuilding Together Long Beach (RTLB) was organized locally in 1992. RTLB relies on local volunteers and generous sponsors to help repair homes and non-profit facilities throughout Long Beach and surrounding areas.

Janice Kelley has lived in her Grenora Way home since childhood. Unfortunately she lost her husband and then her only son to a car accident. Kelley has been in a wheelchair for the past four years and her income does not allow for routine home maintenance. Luckily the city’s code enforcement division, rather than issue a citation, directed Kelley to RTLB.

On Wednesday, December 3 from 9 to 4 volunteers from RTLB and Ultimate Software will work together to pressure wash, install ramp, strip windows, paint windows and exterior, remove yard debris, install grab bars, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Kelley’s lawn converted to drought tolerant using the City’s  lawn-to-garden program.

Ultimate Software’s corporate offices are located in Florida. They are generously sponsoring Rebuilding Together projects in Long Beach as well as two other locations across the country.
