The Long Beach City Manager announced on Monday that effectively immediately, Reginald Harrison has been named Interim Director of Development Services in addition to his role as Deputy City Manager.
Mr. Craig Beck, the former Director of Development Services, has been re-assigned to the Gas and Oil Department, where he will be the Manager of the Business Operations Bureau.
“This has been a very difficult decision that I do not take lightly,” said City Manager Patrick H. West. “This action is the right decision for the Long Beach community and the city organization and allows us to get back to the business of making Long Beach a great city.”
“I will be relying on the professionalism and incredible expertise of the employees in Development Services to keep all the great work moving forward over the next few months until a permanent Director is appointed,” continued Mr. West.
Reginald “Reggie” Harrison became Deputy City Manager for the City of Long Beach in February 2001, after serving as the City’s Interim Director of Community Development. As Deputy City Manager, Reggie has had experience in community relations, planning, development, and redevelopment issues. Reggie has a Masters Degree in Business Administration and an undergraduate degree in Psychology, and resides in Long Beach.
