rpna-trade-fairThe 2009 Restoration Trade Fair & Fundraiser is slated for Sunday, June 28th from 9am-4pm at Luther Burbank Elementary School in Long Beach. The Trade Fair organizers are now accepting booth applications for restoration specialists, craftspeople and artists.

Several vendors and homeowners expressed the benefits of the 2008 Restoration Trade Fair and most said they received substantial business from the event.

The Restoration Trade Fair is a one-day, one-stop event to help homeowners in Historic Districts restore and refurbish their homes. This year’s theme is “Do it Yourself/Do it With Help”, which means: workshops, workshops, workshops!

Last year 50 vendors participated, no more than two of a certain specialty. This year the event will also include local artisans and craftspeople, as well as specialty retailers that weren’t represented last year. Visit the Restoration Specialists  section of the trade fair website to see who was there.

“We need folks who work in metal, all kinds. We need tile restoration as well as custom production. And: fireplace specialists, fabric and wall paper experts to name a few,” says Gretchen Swanson, event organizer. “We check out the state contractor’s license, and the references. Finally, we ask each vendor to review the City of Long Beach’s historic preservation guidelines (approx. 2 pages).”

The event is a fundraiser for the Rose Park Neighborhood Association (a 501c non-profit organization). The event is Free to RPNA members and all children under 18; $5 for all others. Parking is free.
