Prepare for your holiday spirit to skyrocket when pop culture humorist and author Charles Phoenix returns to the iconic Art Theatre in Long Beach on Saturday December 7th, 2013 to spread holiday cheer with a slyly entertaining live comedy performance that celebrates mid-century holiday life and style.

Lavishing the very best of his ‘found’ vintage holiday Kodachrome slide collection with his quick-witted commentary and keen eye for oddball detail, Charles supercharges the classic living room slide show into a laugh out-loud extravaganza of holiday fun and frivolity, past, present and future. He also shares his latest eye-popping food crafting creations, frolicking field trip adventures and “best of” guide to unique local landmarks, lore and much more.

Following the show, join Phoenix for a book signing and cocktail reception across the street at inretrospect [2122 E. 4th; 562-434-6600] as part of the Annual 4th Street Holiday Open House. Fun holiday fashions are encouraged (but not expected)!

The Charles Phoenix Retro Holiday Slide Show takes place 2 p.m. on Saturday December 7th at the Art Theatre of Long Beach [2025 E. 4th; 562-438-5435]. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at Charles Phoenix online.

The Ontario, California native loves to celebrate mid-century life and style and for more than a dozen years his massive collection of flea market-found vintage slides has inspired live Retro Slide Show performances, colorful coffee table books (including Southern California in the 50s and Americana the Beautiful) and has garnered Phoenix numerous appearances on Conan, The Martha Stewart Show, The Queen Latifah Show, and on NPR.
