reverend-billy-found-theatrAre you ready for the Shopocalypse? For one night only, Saturday, March 2, New York City-based activist and performance artist Bill Talen, better known as Reverend Billy, will bring his Church of Stop Shopping to a Long Beach audience at The Found Theatre.

Using the form of a satirical revival meeting, Reverend Billy and his followers exhort consumers to abandon the products of large corporations and mass media. The group also “preaches” a broader message of economic justice, environmental protection, and anti-militarism. Billy and The Church have joined protests and appeared on stages around the world. Reverend Billy will be joined at The Found Theatre by the Local Vocal Peace Choir.

The live appearance of Reverend Billy & The Church of Stop Shopping, with the Local Vocal Peace Choir takes place on Saturday, March 2 at 4 p.m. at The Found Theatre, 599 Long Beach Blvd., Long Beach, CA 90802.

Tickets are $10 at the door. For information: 949-887-0297.

For those who can’t get enough Reverend Billy, The Found will also screen the acclaimed documentary based on his activities: “What Would Jesus Buy?” The film screening will take place on Sunday, March 3 at 3 p.m. at The Found Theatre, 599 Long Beach Blvd., Long Beach, CA 90802.
