Monday, the Teachers Association of Long Beach (TALB) announced their endorsement of Rex Richardson for City Council.
“We think that Rex Richardson will be an ideal City Councilmember,” said TALB President Virginia Torres. “He is an experienced advocate and leader in the 9th District and he has a proven record of success. Through initiatives like the new North Long Beach Library construction, the wetlands restoration, the new fire station, and the Summer Safe Zone program, Richardson has already made significant changes and improvements to his community. As a Councilman, we know he will continue to move the 9th District forward.”
“I am honored to have the support of the Teachers Association of Long Beach,” Richardson said. “TALB is one of the foundations of Long Beach – not only for the City’s teachers, but for its children and parents as well. I look forward to future collaborations with TALB as a Councilman.”
Rex Richardson is the Chief-of-Staff to current 9th District Councilman Steve Neal and a former labor organizer for SEIU Local 721, where he advocated for the rights and advancement of over 80,000 public service workers in Southern California. A graduate of Leadership Long Beach and the Leon and Sylvia Panetta Institute for Public Policy Leadership Seminar at CSU-Monterey Bay, Rex is an Executive Board Representative of the California Democratic Party and former two-term president of the Long Beach Democratic Club. He and his wife, Nina, live in the Coolidge Triangle neighborhood with their dogs, Rocky and Kizzy.
