National Make A Difference Day

On Saturday, October 26, 2013, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., the Rick Rackers Auxiliary of Assistance League of Long Beach will provide school uniforms for every student at Bret Harte Elementary. Each year, the Rick Rackers Operation School Bell philanthropic program selects a school to clothe in support of National Make A Difference Day. Specifically, each of the students in this kindergarten through fifth-grade school will receive two complete school uniforms: two collared shirts, two pants (or shorts or skorts), under garments, socks, and a warm sweatshirt, along with a book and grade-appropriate school supplies.

Rick Rackers primary philanthropic program, Operation School Bell, clothes in-need children attending kindergarten through eighth grade in the Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD). Operation School Bell is dedicated to the vision that no child should fail to attend or perform in school for lack of adequate clothing. As such, with the help of corporate partners, grants, and individual donations, new school uniforms have been provided to more than 70,000 in-need students since the program’s inception in 1974. For the 2013-2014 school year, Operation School Bell’s goal is to clothe 8,500 elementary and K-8 students.

The National Make A Difference Day event sponsored by Rick Rackers Auxiliary of Assistance League of Long Beach is Saturday October 26, 2013 from 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Bret Harte Elementary 1671 E. Phillips St, Long Beach, 90805

Rick Rackers welcomes you to join us as we clothe 1,000 students at Bret Harte Elementary. For further information, please contact Pam Karam, Rick Rackers Philanthropic Programs Chairman, at pamkaram@aol.com.
