Ride the Big Red Bus with LBH on tour of historic churches

On Sunday, July 26, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Stan Poe, noted Long Beach Historian, will lead a bus tour of the historic churches in the downtown area of Long Beach.
The bus tour will include the interiors of several historic long beach churches. Included will be the magnificent 1914 First Congregational Church with its’ exquisite “Rose Windows”; St. Luke’s Episcopal Church with its’ intricate “Rood Screen”; The Little Brown Church on Atlantic Ave; First United Presbyterian; St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and St. John Missionary Baptist. All churches will be toured with an emphasis on the unique architecture, the beautifully designed stained glass windows and the history of the church.
Guests will board the Red Double Decker bus at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church; 525 East 7th Street (at Atlantic Avenue). Big Red Bus is donating the bus. Parking is available and free.
The cost is $20 for LB Heritage members and $25 for guests. The tour is already about half full, so reservations are a must! Call Long Beach Heritage at (562) 439-7019.
