Rising TIDE After School Program Collecting Shoes For ‘Shoes Go Global’ fundraiser

Have you been wondering what to do with all those worn out, unwanted shoes piling up in messy heaps at the bottom of your closet? Wonder no more! Your donations of used shoes can make a world of difference to others and help them find hope.
The Rising TIDE After School Program is collecting over 11,000 pairs of discarded shoes for their ‘Shoes Go Global’ Fundraiser. Donated shoes can be any size and in any condition. When they have enough, Funds2orgs.com pays Rising TIDE for the shoes and then sends them to Third World Countries business projects in Africa and Haiti, where people will be trained to rebuild and refurbish them for resale in their own communities.
So gather up the shoes you no longer wear in a big plastic bag and just drop them off before May 21, 2015 at the collection point, Covenant Presbyterian Church, between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The church is located at 607 E. 3rd Street, at the corner of Atlantic and 3rd Street in Long Beach.
This fundraiser benefits Rising TIDE at Marguerite Kiefer Education Center (MKEC), a successful year-round after school program. Rising TIDE is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. So, when you participate in this fundraiser, your donations help provide academic support, mentoring, cultural enrichment, arts, sports, recreation and nutrition for over 400 inner city children and youth in downtown Long Beach.
