Abandoning his sleigh for a trip to Parkers’ Lighthouse via a Spirit Cruises Yacht, Old St. Nicholas is due to arrive at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6th for an annual benefit that has become a favorite tradition at Parkers’ Lighthouse over the more than 20 years that the restaurant has been hosting Santa’s Breakfast.
Proceeds raised from Parkers’ Lighthouse Santa’s Breakfast are donated to the award-winning Child Life Program at Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach. The greater Long Beach community is invited to help support the program by attending the breakfast. The Child Life Program was developed to help make the hospital experience a more positive one for children of all ages. Child Life Specialists help children cope with hospitalization in every area of the hospital and promote the continuity of normal, daily childhood activities. Child Life Specialists use such as medical play, activity playrooms, art therapy and pet therapy to help lessen anxieties and fears in kids and teens.
“We are pleased that we are able to take a traditional breakfast with Santa and help a great cause at Miller Children’s,” said David Maskello, general manager at Parkers’ Lighthouse and the Queensview Steakhouse. “We support Memorial Medical Center Foundation’s efforts to make life as normal as possible for children who are in the hospital. Santa’s appearance at Parkers’ Lighthouse is just a great way to share in that commitment.”
All who attend the breakfast will get a moment to share a brief wish list with Santa.
“We are thrilled that Parker’s Lighthouse Santa’s breakfast will benefit the Child Life Program at Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach! This donation will help to brighten the day for our pediatric patients and their families,” said Rita Goshert, Clinical Operations Manager, Child Life Program.
Breakfast service begins at 8:00 a.m. and runs until 10:00 a.m. Reservations are recommended and the event is open to the public. Admission is $11.00 for adults and $9.00 for children (12 and under). In addition, The Aquarium of the Pacific will be providing a free pass for children with the purchase of one adult pass.
Breakfast with Santa is just one way that Parkers’ Lighthouse contributes to the community. This year Parkers’ Lighthouse is adding a way to contribute during the evening of December 6 at a wine tasting event featuring their great Holiday wines. Tasting tickets are available for purchase, but all who bring a toy to be donated to a patient will receive a complimentary tasting ticket. A complimentary buffet is open for all that attend and discounts are available on bottle purchases of the featured wines.
