February is the month to “Share the Love” and the Green Team Clubs of Longfellow Elementary & Hughes Middle school are hosting their annual “Share the Love” Community Used Clothing Drive. All donated items go to Goodwill. Items accepted include clothing, shoes, purses, belts, baby clothes, and household linens (towels, sheets, curtains, bath mats)!

The schools are trying to beat last year’s record of three tons of donated goods. Here are few good reasons to “Share the Love” with your old clothes:

  • Your donation will raise money for our schools! Goodwill will give us a stipend for everything we collect.
  • Your donation goes to Goodwill to support its job training programs for local residents.
  • Your donation makes low cost clothing available to our community.
  • Your donation keeps old clothes out of the landfill – almost 85% of all textiles — end up in the landfill in the US.

So don’t trash that old T – donate it — and Share the Love!

Donations will be accepted on Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Longfellow Elementary School Upper Playground, 3846 California Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90807. The event will take place on the school playground: enter on California Avenue, between Bixby and Roosevelt roads.
