Community members including residents, businesses, workers and nonprofits are invited to attend the Shop Spring Street Fair along the namesake business corridor on Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the four corners of Spring Street and Palo Verde Avenue in Long Beach.
Long Beach City Councilwoman Stacy Mungo is partnering with the Spring Street Business Association to host this free community-centric event featuring exciting discounts, memberships, gift cards, raffle prizes and more. “This business corridor has never been as united as it is today, and I want to thank our many neighbors, business owners and contributing partners who have made this all possible,” stated Councilwoman Mungo.
The passport to savings event will offer a great way for shoppers and attendees to participate in the opportunity to win a free round-trip Jet Blue ticket from anywhere in the country, an entertainment and hotel package from the Downtown Long Beach Associates, and other valuable dining and leisure rewards. Grocery Outlet will also be opening its first location, at the previous site of Fresh & Easy, in Long Beach on the same day and will be celebrating the creation of thirty-five new jobs in the Fifth District.
“The Shop Spring Street Fair is a prime example of what a great time it is to live, work and play in Long Beach,” said Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia. “I know how hard the businesses in East Long Beach have been working on this event and I’m extremely proud of our innovative community.”
As one of three “Meet the Mayor” events on Saturday, February 6, Mayor Garcia will be saying hello to residents, sharing news about the city and answering neighbors’ questions at Grounds Bakery Café, located at 6277 E Spring St, Long Beach, CA 90808 beginning at 1:00 p.m.
The Shop Spring Street Fair will be open to the entire public and will also include a pet adoption put on by Long Beach Animal Care Services and free sandbags as part of “Sandbag Saturday” offered by the Long Beach Fire Department in partnership with Public Works, Long Beach CERT and Long Beach Search and Rescue.
