For the second year in a row, Simmzy’s on 2nd St. in Belmont Shore is teaming up with the MemorialCare Breast Center at Long Beach Memorial to create awareness and support a good cause. 10 Days for Tata’s is a 10-day-long event that gives restaurant customers the ability to order select menu items in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a cause Coleen Liebzeit knew Simmzy’s could get behind.

“Being able to do this for the Women Guiding Women: Cancer Support and Education program and the women in our community means a lot to us,” says Liebzeit. “There are people within our Simmzy’s family – teammates and guests – that have been affected by breast cancer and we want to do our part to support not only the members of our Simmzy’s family, but also our loyal guests who have become part of our family. In fact, one of our Server Trainers at our Belmont Shore Location, Chelsea Robertson, went above and beyond the call of duty this year by participating in a two-day walk in Santa Barbara, in addition to her volunteer hours with local cancer organizations. We are extremely proud of her for this and all of our teammates for the enthusiasm they have toward the 10 Days for Tata’s event each year.”

Long Beach Memorial knows that it is important to completely care for cancer patients – mind, body and spirit. The Women Guiding Women: Cancer Support and Education Program at the MemorialCare Breast Center at Long Beach Memorial offers newly diagnosed women with breast cancer a much needed support system, regardless of their financial means or where they are receiving treatment.

Generous funding and community donations are crucial to sustain programs like Women Guiding Women because “It’s powerful for a newly diagnosed woman to talk to a survivor,” says Randal Snyder, co-manager of Women Guiding Women: Cancer Support and Education Program, MemorialCare Breast Center, Long Beach Memorial. “The mentors promote optimism during a difficult time in the mentees’ life.”

Simmzy’s on 2nd St. in Belmont Shore is hosting “10 Days for Tata’s” starting Thursday, Oct. 17 – Saturday, Oct. 26. A portion of the sales, from specific pink menu items, including select specialty brews (look for the pink taps) and the Simmzy’s burger, will go to the Women Guiding Women: Cancer Support & Education Program at Long Beach Memorial.

“We are hoping our guests get as excited as we are about enjoying some great food and great beers for this great cause,” says Liebzeit.
