Sir Winston’s Hosts Four-Course Dinner Paired with Layer Cake Wines in July

Have your cake and sip it, too, as Sir Winston’s, the Queen Mary’s signature restaurant, hosts a wine dinner July 21 featuring wines from Layer Cake Winery and four courses artfully prepared by the ship’s Executive Chef Larry Banares.
Layer Cake Winemaker Jayson Woodbridge and his team are known for wines that reflect the best of their terroirs including Primitivo Zinfandel from Puglia, Italy; Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina; and Virgin Chardonnay from California’s Central Coast.
The event begins at 6 p.m. with a reception featuring Layer Cake rosé followed by dinner and wine pairings at 7 p.m.
The evening’s seasonally-appropriate menu will feature charred summer vegetable terrine with roasted grape tomatoes and balsamic vinaigrette; avocado soup parfait with crab; a mixed grill of beef tenderloin with sweet melted shallots, spot prawns with apricot Cabernet glaze and grape relish, and fingerling potatoes; and dessert of berry rhubarb tart with layered mango, coconut panna cotta and port wine caramel. Each dish will be complemented by some of Layer Cake’s finest vintages, including an un-oaked Chardonnay and the winery’s Primitivo Zinfandel.
All guests will also be entered to win one of two VIP wine tastings for two, one at Luna Vineyards in Napa and the other at Gary Farrell in the Russian River Valley.
