Seaside Printing: Bonnie Lowenthal calls family-owned company a local treasure.

Assemblymember Bonnie Lowenthal, D-Long Beach, has named Seaside Printing, reputed to be the oldest union print shop in California, the 54th Assembly District’s Business of the Month.

“Their lobby is just filled with the thank-yous and mementoes of all the countless good causes they’ve helped,” said Lowenthal.

Seaside Printing, 1220 E. 4th St., in Long Beach, first began operating in 1908. For the past 60 years, the company has been family owned.

Owner Mark Cochrane sets the bar high when it comes to civic involvement.

In 2008, Seaside Printing received Leadership Long Beach’s Community Partnership Award for their active involvement in the organization and financial support of the annual Putt-Putt on Pine findraiser.

“Small business is the backbone of the economy, and of the community, too,” said Lowenthal.
