Local Artist Hosts A Songwriter Showcase at Sipology
2011-07-12 · By Editor
Long Beach based artist Cory Joseph Clark creates The Hum House, a local hot spot for music lovers. Every Wednesday, Clark hosts The Hum House featuring himself and two different songwriters at Sipology Coffee and Gallery.
Clark saw the need to create an environment for artists to showcase their original work, and for music lovers to experience new innovative music. He chose to host the weekly show in his hometown Long Beach, as the city is thriving with local talent. Clark selected Sipology to house his weekly show, to establish an intimate environment for the artists to open up, share their music and the stories behind the songs. Marktree Productions has joined Clark in his efforts to expose local talent to an even larger platform by recording weekly podcasts and interviewing the artists. The podcasts are free to subscribe to on iTunes.
The Hum Hose Songwriter Showcase is every Wednesday from 7:30-10pm at Sipology Coffee and Gallery 2771 E. Broadway, Long Beach, 90803.
Clark began his career in music as a contracted guitar player for other artists and organizations. Last year, Clark was featured in T-Mobile’s MyTouch campaign along with Eric Clapton, Dwayne Wade, Phil Jackson and Whoopi Goldberg. Clark was the frontman of the rock band SLEEPLESS ME, for which he received the Orange County Music Award for “Best Alternative Band.” Clark received two nominations for “Best Male Performer” by the So Cal Music Live Acoustic Competition, and last year received the nomination for “Best American/Roots Artists” by the Hollywood Music and Media Awards for his album “Throwing Stones.” Clark co-produced, sang and played guitar on Jadon Lavik’s acoustic album THE ROAD on BEC Records. Clark has organized and performed at the Gypsy Lounge’s Annual Acoustic Christmas for the last five years; all proceeds from the concerts benefited local charities. Clark collaborated with four-time Grammy nominated composer/American Idol arranger Chris Walden on the song “So Far Away” for documentary “Hometown Glory.” For this song, Cory wrote the music and performed vocals, guitar and piano.
