southbay-fit-campThe outdoor fitness organization South Bay Fit Camp is launching 2010 with free classes in Long Beach on January 9 and 11 to kick-start the new year with momentum, burn off holiday indulgences, and make some great new friends in the process.

The classes, which employ their signature “adult recess” approach to help participants of all levels get fit and stay fit, are offered at various times over the course of the two days, and are free to the public.

Founded in 2008, South Bay Fit Camp takes a unique approach to the increasingly popular fitness “boot camp” format. Designed to challenge participants of all levels – from the most advanced exercisers to the newly-inspired – their classes include a creative variety of activities to improve cardiovascular function, increase muscle tone, and reduce fat, while building camaraderie and relieving stress. No military fatigues, no intimidation – instead, fun activities that provide a great workout in a gorgeous outdoor setting.

“We spend so much of our lives stressed and indoors, so many American adults have forgotten how to play!” says Emily Duval, a fitness consultant and ACE-certified personal trainer in Long Beach. “Our goal is to prove that fitness can – and should – be fun, and that the old adage of ‘no pain, no gain’ is a total lie.”

South Bay Fit Camp also offers Mommy Fit Camp classes for moms and moms-to-be, integrating their signature style with strong emphasis on core strength and endurance for a healthier pregnancy and quicker recovery. Little ones are welcome at these classes, so there’s no need for childcare, and participants are encouraged to stay after for a playdate.

Thanks for the info! Looking for a new fitness regimen after Jed Miller (personal trainer) decided to break off our training (via email!) as I was not making enough progress for him. WTF?? Looking for a supportive group that isn’t as concerned with MY appearance!
