clutter-and-hoarding1EverythingLongBeach recently spoke with Michelle Quintana, Owner of Clutter and Hoarding Pros, via email. They talked about inspirations, challenges and what’s it’s like having a business in Bluff Heights.

How long have you been in business?

I started my business in 1999 as a full service professional organizing business and as the demand grew, changed my business services to focus exclusively on full-service remediation needs of those suffering from moderate to severe hoarding and clutter problems.

I call it being a crisis clutter manager.

Describe your business:

Clutter and Hoarding Pros specializes in full-service remediation of residential properties to those needing help with hoarding clean out, sale of home de-cluttering, estate clearing, assisting seniors in life transition downsizing to assisted living or nursing homes, evictions and court ordered rulings, muni-code violations and other serious situations requiring immediate crisis clutter management and remediation of living environment.

Why did you start Clutter and Hoarding Pros?

The need became overwhelming. I was no longer “organizing” people with clutter but helping those dig out of some very serious situations that needed more specialized servicing and a team approach with quick and effective results. I have a master degree in clinical psychology and have always been fascinated by the topic of hoarding.

What makes Clutter and Hoarding Pros stand out?

How we do what we do. We do not take any clients that are not 100% on board with accepting the help they desperately need. If you reference the “how we work” section of our website and the “FAQ’s” section it will help answer this question in much more detail.

What is the biggest success Clutter and Hoarding Pros has had?

We have helped hundreds of families resolve some very very serious clutter and hoarding issues. See the before and after pictures on our website to see for yourself.

What is your favorite part of running your business?

I’ve worked in corporate America and hated it. I am a leader not a follower and need to have a vision then go towards it.

I love the feeling that comes with helping clients who are in tears when we are done because they are so grateful we were there for them and followed through on every single promise – it’s priceless.

What are the biggest challenges you face?

SEO for my website and being found via Google, Bing and Yahoo. You must continually market and network to be top of mind with realtors, estate attorneys, the general public and social services agencies.

What unique talents do you bring to Clutter and Hoarding Pros?

I have almost two decades of helping individuals and families with hoarding issues and have my masters degree in clinical psychology. See my about page on my website for more information.

How is Clutter and Hoarding Pros involved with the community?

Yes. We are about to put on a Long Beach community event called Hearts for Hoarders — From Chaos to Calm in One Day.”

We are looking for one very needy family in Long Beach who desperately needs our services but cannot afford it and is dire need help or may risk losing their home, child, eviction etc. We are asking that those interested please submit detailed home pictures via our email at with a story as to why they feel they need our services.

The date is forthcoming after we have a chosen the family or individual. The event will be in Long Beach and take place on a Saturday. We will be sending the PR release to all of the local TV media stations, newspapers and other social media outlets. We are asking for NO phone calls from families, only emails and pictures with contact information.

Do you have any future plans for Clutter and Hoarding Pros?

To become the # 1 clutter and hoarding remediation company in California.

What is the best advice that you received and who did it come from?

My biology teacher who told me…”Michelle forget about being in science or doing anything related to math, You’re great with solving people problems, not math or science issues and need to pursue a career or passion that will put you right in the middle of that situation” I was 13 years old when I heard that.
