Celebrate Spring with Colored Pencils and Campfires at El Dorado Nature Center
2011-03-10 · By Editor
Head on over the El Dorado Nature center for a day of nature celebrations with two programs from Long Beach Parks, Recreation on Saturday, March 19, the day of the Spring Equinox.
Throughout the world the equinox is celebrated with nature-themed events and cultural festivals that recognize the changing of the seasons and the start of new life. These two events — Drawing in Nature and the Spring Equinox Campfire — offer Long Beach residents an opportunity to spend some time outside appreciating Mother Earth or, perhaps, just getting a bit of fresh air.
Drawing In Nature will teach you to learn the basics of using colored pencils, including blending, burnishing, and impressed line, while incorporating the techniques of botanical drawing. Bring a lunch and wear walking shoes to enjoy your morning along the trails. Please call (562) 570-1755 for a supply list or to register. This course is for adults only, and is $30 per participant. Class will take place from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, March 19.
Spring Equinox Campfire Bring the family and join us for a campfire to celebrate all that is equal, including day and night, but most of all the return of the spring season! The campfire is $5 per person on Saturday, March 19, from 7 to 9pm.
For further information on these programs or others at El Dorado Nature Center, call (562) 570-1745, or visit the Center at 7550 E Spring Street. For information on other Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine programs, call (562) 570-3100 or visit www.LBParks.org.
