St. Mary Cancer Program Receives Prestigious Accreditation with Commendation
2010-07-23 · By Editor
St. Mary Medical Center was awarded a three-year Accreditation with Commendation from the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons following the onsite evaluation by a physician surveyor. St. Mary demonstrated a Commendation level of compliance having exceeded the one or more criteria required by the CoC, with five of the standards in place that represent the full scope of the Cancer Program (Cancer Committee leadership, cancer data management, clinical services, research, community outreach and quality improvement). This special honor is awarded to only one in four cancer programs at hospitals across the U.S. The CoC is a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving survival rates and quality of life for cancer patients through standard-setting, prevention, research, education and the monitoring of comprehensive, quality care.
With patient satisfaction and quality of care as priorities for St. Mary, the Cancer Accreditation with Commendation demonstrates the hospital’s commitment to high standards. It recognizes the quality of comprehensive patient care and the access patients have to medical specialists involved in diagnosing and treating cancer, treatment-related services, rehabilitation and research activities available at St. Mary.
