St. Mary Medical Center Invites You To Get Your Pink On

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the community of Long Beach is invited to participate in the following events dedicated to breast cancer awareness:
Sep. 29, 2012 – Khmer Health Fair @ St. Mary Health Enhancement Center – 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. St. Mary Medical Center will host to the 8th Annual Khmer Health Fair. The focus will be on Hepatitis, HIV, Lung problems as well as kick off breast health care month. The St. Mary Foundation will host a continental breakfast for this event. Breast care health information will be available as well as sign-ups for the October 5, 2012 breast clinic. Contact: Khmer Parent Association at 562-276-5888 or email: email@example.com.
Oct. 5, 2012 – Breast Exams @ St. Mary Medical Center Imaging Center – By appointment. St. Mary will hold its monthly breast clinic which provides women 40+ with a clinical breast exam given by Helene Ho, PA-C from Pacific Shores Oncology and a mammogram on the same day. Appointments are now being taken for up to 70 women. Call 562-432-0079 for an appointment.
Oct. 10, 2012 – Passionately Pink for the Cure Fundraiser @ St. Mary Medical Center – 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. SMMC staff and visitors will be asked to dress in their best pink and give a donation at the breast health information table near the cafeteria. These funds benefit women who are under 40, have no insurance and find a lump in their breast. A pink lapel ribbon will be given to all who donate.
Oct. 17, 2012 – Come Get Your Pink on Luncheon @ St. Mary Health Enhancement Center -11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. This breast health care luncheon will feature guest speaker Aurora Flores from the CA Department of Health Services’ Cancer Detection Program, who will give a lecture on the importance of early detection focusing on breast & cervical care. Women 40 years of age and older are encouraged to attend. This luncheon is complimentary thanks to sponsors St. Mary IPA, The Senior Center at St. Mary and the Sr. Mary Sabina Sullivan Women’s Health Center. Seating is limited. Also, throughout the month of October, St. Mary Medical Center Imaging Center will be handing out pink totes to all women who come in to have their mammograms. The totes will be filled with important breast health care information. Call 562-432-0079 for an appointment.
