Roadwork projects will detour through traffic on Harbor Avenue in West Long Beach south of West Anaheim Street starting early Wednesday, January 15 and continuing through 6 a.m. January 20.

A repaving project is set for Harbor between 12th Street and Anaheim Jan. 15-17, which will also close part of 12th just east of Harbor, to allow for parking for local businesses.

Then the south half of the intersection of Harbor and West Anaheim will close from the evening of Jan. 17 through early morning Jan. 20.

The intersection work is part of an ongoing project to improve West Anaheim from the 710 Freeway to 9th Street at the western city limit.

Additional detours will be required in the upcoming weekends. At 8 p.m. Jan. 24 through 5 a.m. Jan. 27, connections between eastbound Anaheim and the 710 will be closed. This includes two on-ramps and two off-ramps.

From 6 p.m. Jan. 31 through 6 a.m. Feb. 3, the south half of the intersection of 9th Street and Anaheim will be closed.

The street is undergoing a 14-month improvement project that started in September 2013. The City of Long Beach Harbor Department is overseeing the work to improve the street, which is the northern boundary of the harbor district. In addition to roadway resurfacing, the project includes new sidewalks, bus stops, median, access for the disabled and landscaping.
