Success in Challenges, Inc.’s 3rd Annual “Be the Movement” Gala benefiting the Long Beach Freedom School, will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at The Grand Long Beach Event Center.

The guest speaker will be world renowned multicultural visual artist, Synthia Saint James. Ms. Saint James created a Freedom School Signature Painting from which prints will be available for sale at the event along with a selection of her other fine art.

“Be the Movement” will also feature Al Williams (Creator and Producer of the Long Beach Jazz Festival) as the event’s Master of Ceremonies, while Carl Kemp (The Kemp Group) will lead an exhilarating live “call‐out” for Long Beach Freedom School Wish List items needing sponsored. There will also be a silent auction preceding the event program. The event starts at 5:30pm with a no-host reception.

Long Beach Freedom School is a six‐week enrichment program that is part of the national Children’s Defense Fund Freedom School’s Program. This program targets inner‐city youth between the ages of six and fourteen who come from low and moderate‐income homes and is specifically designed to enhance the youth’s interest in reading, develop positive attitudes toward learning, cultivate self‐esteem and overall connect the needs of their families to local resources. The core belief of this instructional model is that all children are capable of achieving.
