Actress Sheryl Lee Ralph Featured Guest Speaker at Success in Challenges, Inc., 2nd Annual Gala Soiree

Success in Challenges, Inc., a Long Beach‐based non‐profit organization, is proud to announce its 2nd Annual Gala Soiree, “Be the Movement”, featuring actress Sheryl Lee Ralph as Guest Speaker. The event will take place at the Grand Event Center, located at 4101Willow Street, Long Beach, CA 90815 at 5:30pm on Thursday, June 28, 2012.
Sheryl Lee Ralph is regarded as one of the most respected and recognizable celebrity faces around. This award winning actress, singer, philanthropist and motivational speaker consistently creates a contagious positive energy with her spontaneous humor and quick wit which has made her very popular on the speaking circuit. More notably, she brings passion and awareness to the non‐profit organizations she has supported. As one Spelman College student remarks, “Sheryl Lee Ralph is a powerful, inspiring speaker, who shares unforgettable true life stories about success, love, loss and finding the strength to triumph over adversity.”
“Be the Movement” will also feature Dominique DiPrima (Radio Personality and Host/Producer of “The Front Page” at 102.3 KJLH‐FM) as the event’s Mistress of Ceremonies, while former NFL standout and local politician, Damon Dunn (Founder of Future Business Leaders Academy) will lead an exhilarating live “call‐out” for Long Beach Freedom School Wish List items needing sponsored. The exciting event will also present performances by Long Beach Freedom School staff and scholars and the live music of talented jazz musicians from Long Beach Poly High School, as well as some of the art achievements of Long Beach local youth in an exclusive, special silent auction “Art Gallery”.
Long Beach Freedom School is a six‐week enrichment program that is part of the national Children’s Defense Fund Freedom School’s Program. This program targets inner‐city youth between the ages of six and fourteen who come from low and moderate‐income homes and is specifically designed to enhance the youth’s interest in reading, develop positive attitudes toward learning, cultivate self‐esteem and overall connect the needs of their families to local resources. Success in Challenges, Inc. is a Long Beach‐based 501 c3 non‐profit grassroots organization that boasts on its mission to support community youth and adults, more specifically specializing in reaching today’s youth through programs such as the Long Beach Freedom School and Youth ‘N’ Art.
