Suja Lowenthal is Mujer for 2010.

The Regional Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors honored Dr. Suja Lowenthal as a “Mujer for 2010” or “Woman for 2010” for her efforts to make a difference in the community.  The honor is bestowed upon woman in several professional fields including Business, Government, Community, Education, Public Relations, and Media.  The Mujeres Del Año 2010 Awards Ceremony took place on Saturday, November 20th at the Hotel Maya (700 Queensway Drive, Long Beach).

In receiving the honor, Lowenthal said, “I am very honored to be included in this group as well as the Chamber’s past recipients.  They are an impressive class of women creating change in their respective fields.  I was very fortunate to have such a strong female role model in my life – my mother.  She made a very difficult decision when I was very young, to leave my father and me behind in India and pursue her career as a nurse in United States as part of a recruitment program.  Those two years of sacrifice for the family and ensuing years once we joined her were very formative for me.”

The Regional Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is committed to developing businesses in Southern California by showcasing the strength and vitality of the region and promoting their interests in the private and public sectors.
