Dive Into Summer at Aquatic Camps for Kids

aquatic-camps summer campsThe weather is getting warmer, the end of the school year is almost here, and thoughts are turning to a summer of fun in the water.

Belmont Junior Aquatics Camp

Ages 5-8 (kindergarten experience). Join us on the beach side, covered patio area at Belmont Plaza Pool for summer fun. Campers enjoy games, crafts, beach play, songs, Red Cross swimming lessons, field trips, canoeing & sailing once a week at Leeway Sailing Center. 11 one-week sessions, M-F, June 21-September 3, 9am-4pm. Fee is $145 per week. Extended day care, 7-9am & 4-6pm at additional cost of $25-$50 per week. Check out the LB Parks website for all the details.

Bay Club Teen Summer Camp

Ages 13-17 (must have completed 7th grade). Learn the basics of exciting water sports such as windsurfing, sailing, canoeing and kayaking in addition to beach activities & field trips. Fee is $105 per week. 9 one-week sessions, June 21-Aug 20, noon-5pm. More information is available online.

Long Beach Junior Crew Rowing Camp

Get out on the water with the Long Beach Junior Crew. Summer Camp sessions are open to beginners, advanced beginners and intermediate rowers ages 12-18 years old. Contact Georgy Haitz at kkmom4321@aol.com.

Sand, Sea and Beach Volleyball Camps

Join Rady Stoklos and Sinjin Smith for Beach Volleyball Camp takes place on the sand just east of Belmont Pool mid-June through the end of August. Campers can choose to come one day at a time, one week or multiple weeks. Sand & Sea Beach Camp has morning and afternoon sessions to coincide with the Volleyball camps.  Kids can enjoy beach and water activities as part of a full-day or half-day camps.

Summer Water Polo Camp

For more than 20 years, the Camp of Champions water polo camp has helped play a key role in developing many of the nation’s top high school and collegiate water polo players. Some have won medals for their country and championships for their schools or clubs — but all have benefited from the camp’s unique individual and group instruction. The hands-on, personal attention from Olympic medal-winning coaches, along with top flight college coaches and prominent national team players, makes the Camp of Champions the finest water polo camp available for girls and boys ages 12 and up. Kids Sailing Camp at United States Sailing Center

Let your child experience the thrills of sailing at during a one-week Kids Sailing Camp. In this introductory class, children 8 – 14 years old, will enjoy learning the basics of sailing, knot tying and seamanship aboard a variety of Sailing Center boats.  Groups of campers in each boat, along with their instructor, will learn the joys of sailing, while navigating the waters of Alamitos Bay. Goals for camp participants include the mastery of basic sailing skills, a focus on safety, appreciation for the outdoors and the ocean, development of social skills, greater self-esteem in cooperative settings, the making of new friends, and of course fun.
