A Summer Day Camp for Every Kid – Registrations Now Open

Kids can plan on a summer of fun-filled activities, while parents relax knowing their youngsters are in a safe, supervised environment in summer day camp programs provided by Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine. Registration is going on now for park day camps including a Hi-Five Sports Camp, Music and Arts Camp, and Pee Wee Camp.

Park Day Camps

Youth ages 5 to 12 years old will keep busy with games, arts and crafts, field trips (extra fee), beach visits, and a variety of other activities. Cost for the day camps is $90-$100 per week.

For budding actors and artists, 5 to 12 years old, recreation leaders at Whaley Park, 5620 Atherton St., (562) 570-1710, will host the popular Music and Arts Camp. Young campers will take part in art, set design, acting, singing, and dancing projects as well as participate in games, crafts and sports. They’ll join camp staff in producing and performing original plays for parents and friends. The $100 fee includes materials.

Kids play a different sport every other week. They practice new athletic skills, learn the value of teamwork and good sportsmanship, and engage in activities to promote physical fitness. Basketball, volleyball, soccer and flag football will be played in two-week sessions. $90 per week.

Aquatic Day Camps

Please call (562) 570-7888 to request an aquatics camp registration packet. Registration for aquatic camps will take place on Saturday, May 7 from 8 -11 a.m. at Belmont Plaza Pool, 4000 Olympic Plaza and the Department Administration Office, 2760 Studebaker Road.

Camps are open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. See camp for program dates and fees. To help working parents, extended day care hours are available, 7-9 a.m. and 4-6 p.m., for an extra $25 per week for the a.m. or p.m. session.
