Downtown Long Beach’s homegrown concert series Summer and Music (SAM), co-produced by the Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA), marks the start of its sixth year with the expansion of series-favorite Dancin’ in the Streets on Saturday, June 28, 7-11 p.m. at the Downtown Long Beach Promenade. Featuring live performances by Los Angeles-based garage band the Allah-Las with California Lions and Greater California, and a craft beer garden by Beachwood BBQ, Dancin’ in the Streets is sure to get Downtown Long Beach grooving.
Dancin’ in the Streets, a free to all-ages event, will feature breakout artists the Allah-Las. After meeting at a record shop, the band began gigging around town before recording their first single, “Catamaran/Long Journey.” Known for their London-meets-Los Angeles sound, Allah-Las are preparing to release their first full-length album. Joining the Allah-Las will be Long Beach locals the California Lions and Greater California. Both influenced by 60’s sounds, California Lions will feature a Motown sound with horns at Dancin’ in the Street while Greater California will get feet moving with a performance including a small street choir.
The dance party will continue after the live performances with the soulful, psychedelic spins of DJ Lithuanian Prince. Guests will also enjoy craft beer by Beachwood BBQ & Brewing and easy access to the excellent dining choices on the Promenade.
