Sundays in the Park with SAM (SIPS)—a major of component of Downtown Long Beach’s award-winning, sustainable concert series, Summer And Music (SAM)—announces the rest of the June line up. SIPS runs throughout the summer with free, all-ages shows every Sunday afternoon in June, July and August.
The lineup for June’s SIPS features numerous local bands and solo performers, culminating with a great set the last Sunday of the month by last year’s BuskerFest winner Korey Dane. Some Things Creative will present mobile art galleries at both upcoming shows.
June Sundays in the Park with SAM is Sunday June 19, 2011 & Sunday June 26, 2011 | 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Promenade Square park, at the intersection of First Street and The Promenade in Downtown Long Beach, Calif.
SAM is fortified by the dedicated efforts of an entire team of event-coordinating music lovers and by a unique partnership with Downtown Long Beach Associates and the Long Beach Redevelopment Agency (RDA), as well as by the generous support of its community sponsors (listed below). It’s truly of the people and for the people. For more information, call (562) 436-4259 or check out the website: www.summerandmusic.com.
About SAM 2011: Summer And Music (SAM) is Downtown Long Beach’s homegrown, sustainable concert series, providing an entire summer of free music to the public. Voted “Best Music Festival” by OC Weekly in 2009 & 2010, this year’s SAM will be a greatest hits season, including three large-scale music events that are back by popular demand—Battle of the Tribute Bands, Long Beach Funk Fest, BuskerFest—and 12 intimate Sunday shows. The all-ages, family-friendly series features numerous outstanding acts at various eco-conscious outdoor venues throughout the Downtown region. The Sunday afternoon shows—suitably titled “Sundays in the Park with SAM” (“SIPS” for short)—will feature local favorites and family-friendly events every weekend from June to August. The lineup for SAM 2011 is estimated to draw at least 34,000 people throughout the summer and all large-scale concerts are on track to include solar-powered stages and lighting, to name one of many environmentally conscious initiatives.
