Super Mex: Super Good!

Are you looking for a quick bite to eat at lunch time or anytime? I was rushing to an appointment one day with a girlfriend but we were really hungry and wanted something quick.  We decided to try the Super Mex located in Downtown Long Beach. It was during their lunch rush, but we got a table quickly and the service was super fast and super good!

I always have a difficult time finding good Mexican in Long Beach.  Yes, there are plenty of taco stands and quick fast Mexican food, and of course there is Los Compadres, which is a full-fledged sit down restaurant, but where is the in between?  It’s at Super Mex with six, yes, six locations in town!

Entering the restaurant, it is your typical café style set up, with plenty of tables and a dull roar of guests talking.  You are greeted with chips and salsa, but instead of your typical chips, in the more authentic style they are uncut whole corn tortillas deep fried until crispy and waiting for you to tear into.

My friend ordered a margarita because there is a cantina attached! There were lunch specials and that day, one of them was one beef or chicken flauta with a small salad and rice. That is what I decided to order, while she ordered the taco combination. I had just visited the Super Mex located on 2nd street in Belmont Shore the previous week, so I encouraged her to get the green tomatillo rice instead of the Spanish rice. Both are delicious at Super Mex, but the tomatillo rice is one of their delicious specialties. I strongly encourage ordering it!

For a quick authentic Mexican meal with super service, I would highly suggest trying Super Mex!

Super Mex has several locations, check out their website for more information!
