After an earlier warning that they may not proceed with the 2010-11 season, the Long Beach Symphony Association (LBSA) announced Thursday that an agreement has been reached with Local 353 of the American Federation of Musicians (AFM).

The new contract is still subject to ratification by the musicians; results of the voting should be available around Feb. 5. If approved, this agreement will allow the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra to move forward with its current 75th Anniversary season and a 76th season in 2010-11.

The Long Beach Symphony Orchestra’s 75th Anniversary Season continues on February 6 at the Long Beach Arena with a LBSO POPS! Concert: “Michael Cavanaugh in Concert: The Music of Billy Joel and More,” with Steven Reineke conducting.

The next LBSO Classics Concert takes place on March 27 and features Enrique Arturo Diemecke conducting Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 in F major, “Pastorale,” and Van Cliburn Award winner Jon Nakamatsu playing Gershwin’s Concerto in F for Piano.
