Tea for Tots honors Julie and Supervisor Don Knabe for work with children

Long Beach Day Nursery is proud to announce that Supervisor Don Knabe and his wife Julie Knabe will be honored at the Tea for Tots luncheon on May 22 at the Long Beach Yacht Club.
“We are so excited to have Julie and Supervisor Knabe as our honorees for Tea for Tots,” said Executive Director Patrice Wong. “Supervisor Knabe has done so much for our community in the areas of health care, public safety, arts for youth and improving lives, just to name a few.
“One of the most notable and dear to my heart is his Safe Surrender program which has saved the lives 75 babies since it began eight years ago,” she added.
Julie is a Long Beach native and owner of a customer relations firm, J.D. Knabe & Associates. She is a twice-past president of the Cerritos Chamber of Commerce and has been named Business Person of the Year and Volunteer of the Year. She also received the President’s Award. And, she was named Woman of the Year by the Woman’s Club of Artesia-Cerritos. Her extensive philanthropic involvement includes membership on the Long Beach Day Nursery 1999-2000 Major Gifts Committee that raised funds for the East Branch renovation.
Registration for the Tea for Tots luncheon begins at 11 a.m. on May 22. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to browse and bid in the silent auction, which will be open until lunch is served at 12:30. The cost for Tea for Tots is $75 per person.
The Tea for Tots program will include a short performance by the Long Beach Day Nursery children’s choir who will sing three classic children’s favorites.
