Winning team will be announced at the start of the race on Saturday, July 25th, 9:00am.

This interactive event, modeled after the hit television show of a similar name, will take participants on a journey throughout the diverse and eclectic neighborhoods of Downtown where they will visit various businesses and landmarks in order to find clues and perform challenges.  From intellectual conundrums to physical feats to food-eating fun, Downtown’s Amazing Chase will keep participants on their toes for several hours of action-packed entertainment.

Organized by the East Village Association (EVA) and sponsored by The Downtown Long Beach Associates Taste of Downtown Waterfront, the event will begin with check-in at 9AM on Saturday, July 25th at Promenade Square Park located between 1stStreet and Broadway in Downtown Long Beach. The event starts promptly at 10am.  The finish line, which participants will find on their own, will feature a party with hosted appetizers and a no-host bar where participants will get to compare and share stories. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and costume contest winners will be announced.

Teams of 2-4 people will compete during this timed race – with the fastest team to complete all of the challenges crowned as the winners.  A few bonus clues and tasks will be thrown in, each offering a reward of minutes being shaved off the team’s final time.  Teams that find themselves completely stumped can call on volunteers for help, but will be penalized by having additional minutes added to their final time.

“Downtown’s Amazing Chase incorporates a little of everything that I love and work on as an active downtown resident, business owner, and community leader.” said  Joen Garnica, who serves as a the President of the East Village Association. “It promotes local businesses and cross neighborhoods, highlights our city’s landmarks and art, incorporates public transportation, has an element of discovery and it brings residents and visitors together while learning about Long Beach. It’s a fantastic way to highlight the assets we boast in the Downtown.”
