Tecate Thunder Thursday has become a staple of Grand Prix weekend over the years, offering race fans, visitors and residents a cost-free opportunity to preview some of the exciting activities that will be featured as part of the weekend’s entertainment line-up.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., the event will feature race and classic car displays with opportunities for team autographs all set to music as the main stage DJ spins music throughout the evening.  A professional pit stop competition will get the crowd going as two American Le Mans Series race cars go head-to-head.

Pine Avenue will be abuzz with motorcycle daredevil riders performing gravity-defying jumps, back flips and stunts.  The Long Beach Roller Derby girls will skate in exhibition-style form, bringing an entirely new form of entertainment to the traditional race weekend event.  At 9 p.m., the Tecate Miss Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Pageant will get underway on the main stage, ultimately crowning one lucky lady as winner.

“Tecate Thunder Thursday is one of our longest-running and more popular events, which gathers momentum and attracts more people every year,” said DLBA President and Chief Executive Officer, Kraig Kojian.  “With the return of crowd favorites like the pit stop competition and motorcycle stunts and new additions like the roller derby exhibition, this year’s event is shaping up to be our biggest and best yet.”

Tecate Thunder Thursday will take place on Thursday, April 15 at 6:30 p.m. on Pine Avenue between 1st Street and 4th Street.  The event is sponsored and produced by the Downtown Long Beach Associates in collaboration with the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach and is sponsored by Tecate and Ink & Iron.
