Operation Holiday Hearts, a holiday giving program designed by local nonprofit (501c3) organization The Heart of Ida, will deliver personal hygiene kits to dependent senior citizens in Long Beach during the month of December. The Heart of Ida is asking the community to donate personal hygiene items such as soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, and toothpaste, from now through December 18th. Items can be delivered to various sites throughout the city of Long Beach. See the website for details www.heartofida.org.
The Heart of Ida’s mission is to help older adults in the greater Long Beach area preserve independence as long as possible, and provide comfort and cheer when assisted living is necessary. According to co-founder Keri Reich, “…part of our mission is to provide cheer to seniors that do not live on their own and this is a great time to do just that. Some seniors do not have visitors so the personal delivery is really the gift! Local Girl Scout troops help us with deliveries and the seniors just love seeing the kids!”
Ideas for hygiene items can be found on the website www.heartofida.org. If you do not have time to purchase the items, The Heart of Ida can do it for you. A $10 donation is all it takes. All donations are tax deductible. Donations can be made on the website via PayPal.
