Thomas Leary leaves storm water for the Shore

Thomas Leary to become Campaign Manager for Brad Shore, candidate for City Council in the 9th District.
“Shore up North Long Beach is their slogan.” A City Employee for over 18 years, Thomas F. Leary retires this month from his position as Storm water Environmental Program Officer for which he has received many awards and kudos.
Tom Leary’s history of successes includes being instrumental in the successful negotiations and implementation of the City’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES MS4) permit distinguishing Long Beach as the environmental leader and the first City in Los Angeles County to be issued its own permit.
He also handled the development and implementation of the “EcoZone” public-private partnership program generating over $1,000,000 of non tax payer dollars (cash and in kind) for services and goods to support environmental and educational programs like “Windows On Our Waters” Heal the Bay “Keys to the Sea” scholarships to the Aquarium of the Pacific and the Long Beach Solar Trees. A graduate of the University of Connecticut with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration/Finance. Tom relocated to Southern California and made his home in California Heights. He has been with the City since 1981 and has spent the last 11 years looking after our waters.
