Alfredo’s Beach Club is gearing up to host the 84th Annual Great Sand Sculpture Contest, a free, two-day community festival featuring professional and semi-professional sand sculptors, food and craft vendors, family friendly kid’s zone, live music, drink garden and more. This year’s event will take place this upcoming weekend, August 13th and 14th, at Granada Beach. Event proceeds raised at the event will benefit the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House.
The Great Sand Sculpture Contest is a Long Beach tradition and one of the city’s most popular summer events. Last year, more than 10,000 people attended the contest. This year, eight nationally recognized professional sand sculptors will construct this year’s professional sand sculpture gallery of over four unique sculptures. New to this year’s contest, a grand prize will be offered for a new contest showcasing the Western Region’s most impressive semi-professional sculptors. As in prior years, the two-day festival will feature a dynamic community competition, family-friendly kid zone, food and crafts vendor gallery, live music and a beer, wine and drink garden.
“The Great Sand Sculpture Contest is the ultimate community event–it’s free, family-friendly, fun and organized for a good cause,” says Katie Gaston, Alfredo’s Beach Club Contest Chair. “The two-day festival not only offers a variety of activities, but it’s an easy great way for residents of Southern California residents to rally support behind a thriving non-profit providing families the opportunity to be close at the most critical time.”
