Tour Des Artistes 2009 Transforms East Village June 13

tour-des-artistesIn its eleventh running year, Tour Des Artistes will transform the streets with an art and live music festival, surrounded by satellite destinations throughout Downtown Long Beach and the East Village Arts District Saturday, June 13.

Tour Des Artistes (TDA) is an annual arts and music event comprised of local and regional artists of all disciplines. This year’s event will include a large outdoor festival in the East Village Arts district along with a multitude of indoor engagements, live installation art competition, gallery exhibitions, museum tours and intimate concerts.

The outdoor festival features a live music main stage, live art, performances, beer garden and much more. Phantom Galleries LA, a Los Angeles County based organization, will transform vacant storefronts into public art galleries. A VIP double-decker bus will guide participants through a tour of local museums including the Museum of Latin American Art and the Long Beach Museum of Art.

The Art Box Competition provides four artists a given framework and time limit to create a 3D installation to be judged by a panel of Fine Art Professors and Curators.
Surrounding locations offering live music, exhibitions, panel discussions, dining and entertainment. Scheduled performances include: Thinking Aloud, Deep Sea Diver, Summer Darling, Eugene & The 1914, Ryan Bradley Affair and more. Complete program updates will follow.     

Tour Des Artistes will take over the Broadway Block (Long Beach Blvd. & Broadway) and Downtown Long Beach Saturday, June 13, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with After Parties at Ice Bar, The Cellar and Club 149 from 10:00 p.m. yto 2:00 a.m.

Tour Des Artistes is free for all ages. Free parking and bike valet will also be available. VIP Tour Bus tickets cost $30 (21 and over only).
