Tour the Villa Riviera on Sunday
2009-05-09 · By Editor
The recently restored Villa Riviera in downtown Long Beach, will be open to the public for a rare Home Tour tomorrow, May 10 (which also happens to be Mother’s Day). The Villa Riviera tour will take place from noon to 5 p.m. at 800 East Ocean Boulevard. The cost is $25.
Architecture aficionados will have the opportunity to wander the halls and see between 15-20 units as well as the newly renovated lobby and Villa Room.
This is the first time the historical landmark will be open for visitors following it’s interior and exterior restoration which include removing 14 layers of paint and restoring the building’s original 1929 colors.
The Villa Riviera was intended to be “one of the most magnificent architectural examples in Southern California, if not in all America,” according to its 1929 brochure. It has a long history and has become an easily recognizable Long Beach landmark.
