Traffic Collision on Pacific Coast Highway Results in Fatality

On Saturday, June 16, 2012, at approximately 8:07 p.m., officers from the Long Beach Police Department were dispatched to a traffic collision on the 5200 block of Pacific Coast Highway, that resulted in the death of an adult male.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a motorcycle traveling northbound on Pacific Coast Highway at a high rate of speed hit a pick-up truck traveling southbound, that was attempting to make a left turn. The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. He is currently only being identified as a 33-year-old Long Beach resident, pending notification to his family.
The driver of the truck, a 66-year-old Long Beach resident, was interviewed, cited for making an unsafe left turn, and released.
