Traffic Fatality at Long Beach Blvd and 49th; LBPD Seeks Witnesses

On Thursday, April 16, 2009, at approximately 8:21 p.m., Long Beach Police responded to an injury traffic collision at the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and 49th Street, which resulted in the death of a male adult.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1997 Honda motorcycle, being driven by 40-year-old Alberto S. Quezada of Long Beach, was traveling southbound on Long Beach Boulevard and approaching 49th Street. As he reached the intersection, he collided with a 2003 Hyundai SUV that was traveling northbound on Long Beach Boulevard. The driver of the SUV, identified as 66-year-old Manuel Gutierrez of Long Beach, was attempting to make a left turn onto 49th Street.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported Victim Quezada to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.
The driver of the 2003 Hyundai was interviewed and released at the scene. It is unknown at this time if the speed of the motorcycle was a factor in the collision; however, the investigation is ongoing.
