Early Morning Traffic Accident Results In Fatality

On Saturday, April 23rd, 2011, at approximately 5:18 am, officers from the Long Beach Police Department responded to the intersection of Orange Avenue and Carson Street regarding an injury traffic collision where a vehicle collided with a pole.
On arrival, officers located the driver of the vehicle, A 1995 Dodge Caravan, and began medical aid. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics arrived shortly thereafter and continued life saving procedures. Unfortunately the driver, who has been identified as Ruperto B. Cinco, a 59-year-old resident of Long Beach, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. There were no other passengers in the vehicle.
The preliminary investigation revealed Mr. Cinco was traveling southbound on Orange Avenue when, for an unknown reason, he drifted across the intersection and collided with a traffic signal pole. It appears no other vehicles were involved in the collision.
